Let There be Light.... But Not Too Much

Earlier this year during Summer, our hallways in this house of seven Studio Flats fell
into darkness. So the Management Agency called in the Electricians. And over two days
they were left baffled and were unable to repair the faults. So the outcome was to rip out all the
old lighting and replace it with LED lights on each landing floor.
For me LED lighting seems more suitable for a Hospital including an Operating Theatre,
which is why our three landing floors now looked over bright and quite clinical, not to mention
dazzling to the eye.
So I had the idea of diffusing the lights by making a sort of bespoke lampshade, producing
two. One for the larger middle floor as well as one for our smaller top floor outside my Flat.

The House tenants seem pleased with the results. Most of them are aware that I used
to manage the House for the previous Landlord, even personally showing and vetting
prospective new tenants, and all on top of my day job back then.

And I suppose this little project was a challenge to make something made to measure, and
something you couldn't buy. It also distracted me from being online for almost a week. So these
are the results below. And I might even be tempted to make another bespoke lampshade for the
ground floor front entrance hallway sometime in the future.

Local Fireworks...Eventually!

This weekend saw one of our local Schools here in North West London put on their
annual Fireworks Party, all be it a little late this year. And being that Bonfire Night
was officially on Friday the 5th of November, locals assumed that this event would take
place on the following night, Saturday the 6th. But alas it took place yesterday on the 13th.

Above is a short video of the event.

Autumn on The Heath.....Plus a Short Video

Friday the 5th of November, the day of Bonfire Night, seemed like a good time to go
and check out the Autumn colours on nearby Hampstead Heath. Although amazingly
the annual show of colour is a bit late this year and has still got a way to go.

And looking around this part of The Heath, there appears to be quite a bit of work
going on, with several of the Ponds closed off to the public. It seems that a twelve week
Desilting project recently started and involves cleaning out and refreshing the Ponds,
something that apparently takes place every 20-30 years to benefit the ecology of the
Ponds.

And so below are just a few new images taken on Friday plus a brief short video
taken around The West Heath just by The Water Garden Pond which does look
a bit poorly at the moment as they're working on it.
