NEW AUTUMN PICTURES..... HAMPSTEAD HEATH

Although our Autumn can start around the end of September, we don't
actually see the benefits of the seasonal colours until early to mid November.
And so now is the perfect time for a bit of seasonal photography.
And so last Wednesday early in the morning I popped over to our local
Heath on what seemed more like a Winter morning to capture a bit of colour.

I particularly like the top picture above which was taken in the West Heath
part of Hampstead Heath. The break in the trees seems to allow sunbeams to
break through, giving it the look of an enchanted forest. And in the Winter
it can look even more dramatic, especially on frosty mornings.
Also below are a few pictures that I took around the Hampstead Pergola.
Hopefully my next lot of seasonal pictures will feature some Winter snow,
although we don't get it every year.

  1. Simply beautiful.
I love to visit those kind of gardens.
Saw some in USA and we have a very nice botanical garden in Montréal not far from my place too.

For now, autumn is more looking like winter because snow is falling and the temperatures are around the 0°C more or less.

    1. Thanks JiEL,

Of course Canada has some wonderful scenery. But I'm surprised that your Winter
is already setting in. I guess you must have long Winters.

How strange though that the season of Summer is often overlooked by many photographers.
Summer usually just means Beach and Coast pictures. Many seem to favour Spring, Autumn and Winter
      for their colourful images.

  3. Here in Canada and in my province of Quebec, winter is a huge season. Not surprising that when the Toronto Rapters of NBA won the cup, we said that «We The North».
In Montreal it's a bit unusual to have big snowstorm early in November but it happens.
I remember though that we had a «green Christmas» few years ago.

In one of a famous French song from a famous Quebecois composer he sings: " Mon pays n'est pas un pays, c'est l'hiver."
    (My country isn't a country, it's winter.)

    1. JiEL, I like the term Quebecois, but then I find out that it's really French for Quebecer.

Re: My country isn't a country, it's Winter... I'm sure that's how many Northern Europeans
must feel every Winter when they only get a few hours a day of daylight each day.

I love your Canadian comedian Stewart Francis who once said 'You're looking at a very proud
Canadian who's very proud of the education system in CANADIA.'

    2. OMG! That's so true about our education system that many outsiders are coming to study in our university.
Likely, when they come here they are willing to stay here as immigrants to work here.
We have a shortage or work people so they're welcome and more, needed and they easily find good working places.

Our student fees are also very low if we compare to USA and many other countries in the world.

  4. Super lovely photographs. The top on would make for a spiffy calendar. (sans nudes) Someday you will listen to me and publish your artistry behind the lens. Make some money you old buck. Not getting any younger.

    1. Neil, Thanks for that. Yep, I'll send you the first calendar if it ever happens.
I have made one or two before with my pictures, but they were just for friends.
      Didn't print many up.

      Dee.
