It's a Gif......Re-Post

Here's a few classic comedy film clips that were begging to be giffed. And as old as the clips
are, they still manage to tickle my funny bone.

Top row: Laurel & Hardy in 'Them Thar Hills.
Plus Laurel & Hardy in 'Swiss Miss.'

Middle row: The Three Stooges in 'Brideless Groom.'
And Laurel & Hardy in 'Twice Two.'

Bottom row: Charlie Chaplin in 'Modern Times.'

Above:  Laurel & Hardy and a funny but
overacting Cop.

Burt Reynolds as Sharky

I wonder why certain great films never seem to show up on tv.  So I was pleased to find
online a new blu-ray release of 'Sharky's Machine' starring Burt Reynolds. It was made
in 1981 and was filmed in and around the City of Atlanta.

In the movie plot Sharky (Burt Reynolds) is demoted to the seedy world of the Vice Squad
after a bust up goes horribly wrong. And in his first case in Vice, his team lead by Charles
Durning, just happen to stumble across a mob murder tied to prostitution and government.

Vittorio Gassman is the mobster that's pulling all the strings in the City, even pocketing a local
politician (Earl Holliman) who is running as Governor, while orchestrating his campaign for
his own ends.

Gassman's top hitman 'The Screaming Assassin' is played brilliantly by actor Henry Silva.
And in the bloody climax of the movie he becomes almost ghost like.

In the Youtube clip above we get one of those quiet moments in the middle of the film. I'm not sure
what they call these quieter segments in the movie industry but my guess is that it allows the cinema
goers in the theatre a chance to get their breath back again. And it's in this top scene that Sharky
is on a stake-out keeping an eye on the beautiful Rachel Ward. And not surprisingly it's a favourite
scene for fans of this movie. It also features that classic Hart & Rogers song 'My Funny Valentine'
as a jazz score.

The film was also Directed by Burt Reynolds.

Bonfire Night and Fireworks!

Held a little late this year was a local firework display at one of the local Hampstead
Schools on what must have been one of our first cold evenings.
Even my fingers felt cold to the bone after hanging around while there was a
delayed technical start to set things off. But at least it's one local event that's still
going strongly. We were hoping that it would be arranged for Saturday 4th November.
Instead it was held a week later on Saturday 11th.

And looking at my local Ham & High newspaper I was thrilled to read that our very own
once annual Hampstead Christmas Fair and Light switch on is back on this year after the
event got so big that no sponsors were brave enough to take it on. So that should be
something to look forward to in a couple of weeks. Lets hope it wont be too cold wet and windy
like in 2015 when several of the canvas Christmas food stalls were partly blown down.
Yes folks I'm afraid that Christmas once again started very early here in the UK. And once
Bonfire Night was out of the way things literally kicked off on Monday 6th November with
the early Christmas store sales and blanket tv coverage of festive commercials and several
Christmas tv movie and music channels. I wonder if we'll be plain burnt out by the time it
really arrives.

Above and below are a few pictures as well as a few gifs I made after filming a few bits on my phone.
